theandroidgame is an augmented reality based real live role play game.
when you play this game you are able to discover a parallel world full of quests, rewards and funny stuff right in front of your eyes. most people are new to the concept of augmented reality, so let's quickly describe what it is and how you can see and use it.
for example: you are walking along your usual way to the bus, which will bring you into the city where you are working. you only see what you have seen yesterday and the day before, nothing new - until now. When you join this game you get instructions on where and how to discover new quests, that will bring you reqards, either in terms of fun, goodies, fame or money.
yeah, but how does it work? you need to find secret markers, hidden on your way. once you spot these markers you place your mobile phone in front of it and voilà, you will see a npc (non playable character) via your phone in your everyday environment, i.e. the way into the city.
The character is not only there and displayed. It moves and talks, it will give you quests and rewards. A new part of the androidgame starts, whenever you find a new marker. most of the markers are linked, because a quest typically consists of several steps. a bit like geocaching, but that game concept is simply old fashioned and has none of the augmented reality gimicks as in theandroidgame.
Ok, sounds cool, but where do I find the markers? Well, there are several types of markers. Some are obvious, as they consist of a typical black and white square pattern. These are very simple quests though, just to get started, some exp and some gear. Some of these balck and white markers are only the beginning of your journey. For example if you start at one place the black and white patterns only lead you to a more complex stage of the over all quest. And now it gets tricky, because markes can be hidden in your everyday items. The candle on your table? Might be a marker, you only find out, if you look at it via your phone. The fastfood market around the corner, might be a marker as well. And what about the receipt from yesterdays flower shop .. guess what, might be a marker as well.
The markers, your entrance ticket into the game can be small, big, moving, static, in color, black and white, even real and living people at a grocerey store. You might not beleive it, but that is not the point, it exists, no matter if you try it or not.
